For small businesses
Employee scheduling software for small business, at $0.50 a person
One price for every feature, no setup project and no sales call. Upload the spreadsheet you use today, set your rules, and ScheduleSolve drafts the schedule. Each person gets their shifts, and after a change only the people affected are told.
The short answer
Small business scheduling software should save the owner hours each week, cost little, and work on day one. ScheduleSolve costs $0.50 per person per month with a $10 minimum, so a team of up to 20 pays $10 a month. Every feature is in that price.
There is no setup project. Upload your Excel or CSV schedule, or start from a template, and you get a first draft the same day. Before you sign up, you can try the free schedule maker with no account.

What it costs, worked out
The price is $0.50 USD per person per month, with a $10 minimum that covers up to 20 people. Paid yearly, it is 25% less. Prices are before sales tax. Here is what three team sizes pay:
| Team | How it is worked out | Paid monthly | Paid yearly, per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 people | 8 × $0.50 = $4.00, so the $10 minimum applies | $10.00 USD | $7.50 ($90.00 a year) |
| 15 people | 15 × $0.50 = $7.50, so the $10 minimum applies | $10.00 USD | $7.50 ($90.00 a year) |
| 30 people | 30 × $0.50 = $15.00 | $15.00 USD | $11.25 ($135.00 a year) |
Each person on your schedule counts. Sample people, which you can add to try things out, are free. See pricing for the calculator and the details.
No setup work
Most small businesses run their schedule in a spreadsheet, a paper chart or a group chat. Moving to software should not take a week. ScheduleSolve gives you three ways to start, and a short set of questions after. Nothing is saved until you press Create.
Upload the spreadsheet you use today
Upload your Excel or CSV schedule. ScheduleSolve reads your people, your codes, your colors and your notes. When it cannot work something out, such as what “E” means, it asks you. Your first draft keeps the words your team already uses.
Or start from a template
Templates for restaurants, retail, call centers and nursing units come with areas, shifts, needs and suggested rules. Change any of them in the setup, before anything is created.
Or start blank, and try it with sample people
Name your areas and shifts, paste your list of people, and say how many people each shift needs. Want to see it work first? Add sample people with one button, press Draft, then remove them with one button.
When a spreadsheet is still enough
Not every small business needs scheduling software. If you have four people who work the same days every week, a spreadsheet on the wall works well, and it is free. Software starts to pay for itself when the week changes often: part-time staff with different days each week, time off requests, sick calls, swaps, and rules you have to keep in your head, such as rest between a late close and an early open.
A useful test: count the hours you spend each week on the schedule, the texts about it and the changes after it is posted. If it is more than an hour, a draft that keeps your rules and tells only the people affected saves you more than it costs. At $10 a month for up to 20 people, one saved hour a month is enough.
What a small business gets
Every feature is in the one price. There is no plan to upgrade to.
- A draft of the whole period. Press Draft and every shift that can be filled is filled, in seconds, by your rules.
- Rules in plain words. A Must rule always holds, such as “at least 11 hours of rest between shifts”. A Try to rule holds when it can, such as “weekends are shared fairly”.
- Home: only the decisions. Time off requests with the effect on cover, open shifts, swaps and suggested changes, each with one button and Undo.
- Only the right people told. Post once, and each person gets their shifts. After a change, only the people it affects hear about it.
- Sick calls fixed fast. Home shows the smallest fix: a free person, a spare person or an offer to everyone who can work it.
- A staff app with nothing to install. Staff open a link and sign in with a code by email. They see their shifts, ask for time off, say when they can’t work and swap shifts.
- Hours for payroll. At the end of each pay period, see the hours by pay code and export a CSV for your payroll.
What it does not do
ScheduleSolve does the schedule well and leaves the rest to other tools. It has no time clock, it does not run payroll, and it has no team chat. It does not connect to a POS. Phone apps for iPhone and Android are coming soon; today the staff app works in any phone browser and can go on the home screen.
How to schedule a small team
- Write down what each shift needs. How many people, in which area, on weekdays and on the weekend.
- Collect when people can’t work. In one place, not in texts. Part-time staff and students change their days often.
- Set two or three rules. Rest between shifts, most days in a row, and fair weekends cover most small teams.
- Draft, check, then post early. Look at the hours and the gaps, change what you want, and post as early as you can.
- Change little after posting. When you must change, tell only the people affected.
Try it free first, with no account
The free schedule maker fills one or two weeks for up to 40 people, with the same engine as the app. Type your people and shifts, pick your rules, and press Make my schedule. Print it, download a CSV or save a link. If you like it, start your trial with that schedule and your setup is filled in.
Questions
Is there a free plan?
No. There is a 7-day free trial with no card, and the free schedule maker, which needs no account. After the trial, a team of up to 20 pays $10 a month.
Who counts as a person?
Each person on your schedule. People you remove stop counting, and sample people are free.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes, at any time. The owner cancels in Settings → Billing, and the plan runs to the end of the period you paid for.
How long does it take to set up?
Most teams have a first draft in one sitting. Upload your spreadsheet or pick a template, answer a few questions, and press Create.
Can I use it for more than one location?
Yes. Make one team per location, each with its own schedule, and give each manager only their team. The price stays $0.50 per person, whatever the number of locations.
Will my staff need to install an app?
No. Staff open a link from their invite and sign in with a code sent by email. It works in any phone browser.
