Getting started
Rules: Must and Try to
Add the rules every schedule follows, and change their numbers.
Rules are what every schedule must follow. Each one is a plain sentence, so anyone can read it.
Must and Try to
- A Must rule always holds. A draft leaves a shift open before it breaks a Must rule.
- A Try to rule holds when it can. When two Try to rules clash, the one with the higher priority wins.
Type a rule in your own words
- Open Settings, then Rules.
- Type the rule, for example "Nobody works more than 5 days in a row".
- ScheduleSolve shows the rule it understood, with what it would change in your last schedule. Press Check and add if it is right, or change it.
Nothing is added until you confirm. If ScheduleSolve cannot understand the sentence, it offers the closest rules from the list.
Or pick from the list
Press Add a rule and pick a rule, for example "At least 11 hours of rest between shifts" or "Spread weekends fairly". Change the numbers, choose Must or Try to, and save.
Advanced options
Open Advanced on a rule to set dates it applies, people or areas it is not for, and its priority. Tick Required by law or contract on a Must rule so ScheduleSolve never suggests relaxing it.
When a rule changes
A change applies to the next draft. Posted shifts stay as they are until you change them.
