Every period

The schedule grid and short codes

Read the grid, change a cell, and type or paste short codes.

The Schedule page is a grid: people down the side, days across the top. It looks like the spreadsheet you know.

Find your way

  • Week or the whole period: switch at the top.
  • Previous, Today and Next move through time.
  • Pick a team in the Team menu at the top of the app.
  • The counts under each day show how many people work each area. Red is below the minimum; amber is below the ideal.

Search

Search finds a name, an area, a shift, a day such as Tuesday, or "not confirmed", and highlights what matches in the grid. Area and shift names work in any order and any case. If a word is almost right, it asks "Did you mean Kitchen?". You can also ask a question, such as "Who is working Tuesday?" (see Ask and explain).

Change a cell

Click or tap a cell. The detail opens beside the grid on a large screen, or as its own page on a phone. It shows the shift, any rule it breaks and any note. From there:

  • Change the area and shift, or pick Off or a type of time off.
  • Make Off clears the day.
  • Who else could work it lists people who can take it. Give it to one of them moves the shift to them.
  • Can't come on a posted shift from today on. See When someone can't come.
  • Why? explains why the person is there.

Type and paste (desktop)

Use the arrow keys to move, and type to fill the cell. ScheduleSolve understands the area and the shift in any order, by name or short code:

You typeThe cell gets
K D, Kitchen Day, day kitchenKitchen, Day shift
KitchenKitchen on its one shift; if it has several, it asks which one
DThe Day shift in the person's usual area
off or -Off
vac, VacationA day of that time off
  • Shift + arrows selects several cells. Then type to fill them all.
  • Copy cells from your spreadsheet and paste them into the grid. Anything it cannot read is listed, with an example of what works.
  • A change that breaks a Must rule says so at once, with Undo.

Press ⌘Z (Ctrl+Z on Windows) to undo your last change in the grid. Press ? to see every keyboard shortcut, and ⌘K (Ctrl+K) to search or go to any page.

Standard and Compact views

Standard shows area and shift names. Compact shows short codes, like your old spreadsheet, so more fits on the screen.
